Happy Families

We had a great and full weekend over in Southampton.Visited my sister Liz.We also attended a certain match in Cardiff but I'll leave that posting to Kay.

I hadnt seen Joanne's little one, Sarah ann, since she was a baby so it was good to see her. She's a smashing wee lass (and beautiful too).Since she has an English dad (poor wee thing)and a Scottish mum she informed me that she speaks Scinglish!

Naomi and Sean paul came over on Sunday. Two fantastic kids, though Sean is spending way too much time with his grandad judging by the fact that he talks almost incessantly!

Anyway, it was great to see the Southampton branch of the family and they are coming over for the party on the 8th July so we'll get to see them all again.

The Scarecrow

The Scarecrow

Out in the field at the break of day
Body of straw, and hair of hay
Pole down back and stuck in clay
Supposed to scare the birds away

grass grown right up past the feet
positioned were the crossroads meet
arms stretched wide across the sky
A mouse in pocket, keeping dry

“I’ve been here for fifty years
and no-one ever dries my tears,
The birds all laugh and make fun of me
And never, ever let me be”

“I’ve never left this horrid place
never saw another face
never even sat on a chair
Oh, life is really so unfair “

“But wait, the farmer lifts me down
Will he take me into town?
Or at least to somewhere nice and warm
To keep me dry from the coming storm”

“Oh this is great, I’m in the farm,
Warm as toast and free from harm
After all this time at last I’m free
A life to live, a world to see”

“Its ok Farmer, I’m close enough
Please, no closer. Those flames look rough
If you don’t stop pushing I'll be too near
And my straw will sizzle and my hay will sear

“Oh damn, I think I’ve worked it out
Oh yes I know without a doubt
iust when I thought life was getting higher
The Farmer’s thrown me in the Fire!

More Babies!

I was home in Glasgow for the weekend and it gave me the opportunity to go and see my best friends new "Wean" as we say over there. Its his first son after 3 girls so he is over the moon.He also had to do his Midwife (Midhusband, Midperson?)and he came through this with flying colours so he is as high as a kite.We were speaking about the experience and he said that everything happened so quickly (Sharon started full labour at 3am and Adam made his appearance at 3.20am)he had no time to think about it.Needless to say Adam is a handsome wee guy.

Doesn't there seem to be an awful lot of baby boys being born in recent times?
